Bowie Woman Charged with Murder After Husband Fatally Shot in Domestic Dispute, Police Say
BOWIE, MD — A Prince George’s County woman has been arrested and charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing her husband inside their home early Saturday morning. The incident has stunned the quiet suburban community of Bowie and left family, friends, and neighbors grappling with the sudden and violent loss.
The victim has been identified as 53-year-old Damian Ward, a native of Washington, D.C. His wife, 50-year-old Nicole Lanett Ward, is now facing charges of first-degree and second-degree murder, along with related offenses, in connection with his death.
According to the Prince George’s County Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call at around 1:45 a.m. on July 19, 2025, at the couple’s residence on the 13200 block of Old Chapel Road. When police arrived, they found Damian Ward suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say an argument between the couple escalated into violence, ultimately leading to the fatal shooting. While authorities have not released details about what sparked the dispute, they confirmed that Nicole Ward was immediately identified as the suspect.
She was arrested without incident and remains in custody at the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections. Officials stated she is being held on a no-bond status as the investigation continues.
A Quiet Neighborhood Shaken
The neighborhood where the Wards lived is known for its calm, residential character—lined with family homes and manicured lawns. News of the shooting left residents shocked and heartbroken.

The couple, according to public records and acquaintances, had lived in the area for several years. Some neighbors reported hearing raised voices in the past but said they never expected the situation to escalate to such a tragic outcome.
